Marble Painting

Marble Painting
is a standard toddler art project that has somehow eluded us until today.

We tried this two ways:

the first time we just dipped our marbles into the paint and then put them in the pan.

then of course, you move the pan around to move the marbles

The second one we did, I put globs of paint on the paper first and then L dropped the marbles in. He then tried to move the bin around to get the marbles into the paint blobs.
Oh, and I also let him use a bigger plastic bin this time.

he then went to customizing his painting by making his marbles fall in the area and direction he wanted.

Glad we finally got around to doing this. L loved it and I thought the result was so pretty and colorful!
I'll be framing one of his masterpieces.

Our Week in Pictures

A weekly post
that captures the memories we've made
(including the cat)
from Monday-Sunday

Dining al fresco at my moms

The loot I scored at the World's Largest Babyshower event that was held on Saturday in Springdale. The event benefitted the March of Dimes. I've never seen that many pregnant women in one place before.
It was like a stampede trying to get this stuff! It was sooo packed!
Glad I hung in there though and i'm glad I had my mom...I can't believe how much stuff we got!

My favorite L quote of the week

Me: "What are you going to be when you grow up?"

Window Markers

We've been having lots of fun with Window Markers lately. It's a great boredom buster and L gets a kick out of writing on the bathroom mirrors. I just sit him on the counter...actually I sit him in the sink, and he draws his little heart out. They come off the window and hands pretty easily too.
If you have a sliding glass door, or a big window low to the ground these are great for outside as well.

I'll admit that my husband and I also have a set in our bathroom.
Buuuut, those messages and drawings are a bit more private.

Joplin, Mo Reptile Zoo

As we finally head into spring, our activities become more and more about exploring, whether that be right in our backyard or driving somewhere. This winter, I took the time to research all the cool places I wanted to go this spring and summer that are within an hour or less driving distance. I came up with a pretty cool list and we can't wait to visit some old and new favorites.
On Tuesday we vistited one of those places on my list.

The Reptile World Zoo in Joplin, MO

A really neat kind of a little hole in the wall place, with tons of reptiles and amphibians and a very friendly and knowledgable staff. We loved it.

THE biggest anaconda i'd ever seen

I'd never seen a cobra do it's "cobra thing" but this one had its neck all puffed out and it was dancing around ready to strike! A few seconds after I took this picture, it DID strike at L! Of course, we were on the opposite side of the glass, but it scared the heck outta me!
All I could think was...a cobra just tried to kill my baby!

creeepy

L wanted to see the alligator move, so the guy working there reaches his hand in and started petting the alligator's head! The alligator closed his eyes and his tail started swaying...like he liked it! I had to stop watching though, because I just knew I was about to see someones arm get snapped off and I just couldn't hang anymore. lol

I'd never seen a rattle snake rattle either.

If you are within a reasonable driving distance and are looking for a little afternoon fieldtrip, this is a pretty neat place to check out. Visit their website for more info.
